An App Apart

For years I’ve been buying apps for visual creativity. Some of them are photo editing apps, others are graphic design apps or effects apps.
There has never been an art category on the App Store. Occasionally apps for making interesting images have been listed in the Education or Lifestyle categories. Now there is a Graphics & Design category but I don’t know how long that’s been around.

I don’t think Apple ever fully knew what to do with their Music section, as it is a mixture of consuming/listening apps and creative apps. If they had an Art category, it would also be a similar mix, as there seem to be plenty of apps that at first glance appear to be for your personal creativity but on further inspection are part of some physical art installation in a gallery, usually overseas.
I should have to find these by searching specifically by location or at least a subcategory so I don’t stumble across them.

Most of the time I have found my app collection from the other intrepid Store explorers using the You Might Also Like feature, and wandering until I found something interesting. I’ve spent many late nights curating, purchasing or installing art-related apps.
So now I have a place to discuss and review the ones I’ve bought and used and others I’ve found that may be of interest to you but haven’t purchased for some reason or another.
